Aims: This course aims to give learners an introduction to the principles
and practices behind energy and carbon auditing for those who are
new to this field or in the early stages of being involved. This course
aims to provide a practical foundation for those needing to develop
skills and understanding of energy and carbon auditing for buildings
and property portfolios.
The aim
is for learners to understand the methodologies which can be used
reliably to measure energy use and carbon emissions, to understand
the cost implications of various measures that can be taken to reduce
energy use and carbon emissions, and to develop strategies to achieve
low or zero carbon building performance in the medium or longer term.
Course Duration: 6 hours (in 1 day)

This is a theory-based course that will cover:
Practical examples of monitoring, evaluating, re-representing and
consolidating data
Collating of results and formulating the presentation of data
Review of three examples of energy and carbon audits
Typical audit calculations
Outline of an energy and carbon audit process for a real world situation.
Certification:
Participants will be sent a certificate of attendance following completion
of this course.

This one day event is aimed at exploring the opportunities that are

sustainability across a wide spectrum of industries. Sustainability
has become a
mainstream concept in the last few years and all aspects of the job
market are now
influenced in a variety of ways by sustainability.
The event is designed around looking in detail at specific industries.
It is also designed
in a way to understand the bigger picture in sustainability. Immediate,
short term and
long term outlooks will be addressed, with insights from key professionals

Trudy Thompson FRSA will give a presentation about why Bricks and
Bread, a social enterprise, was created and how it became a hub for
sustainable business enterprises in the local area. Fellows will be
given a group tour of the facilities and an overview of what happens
at the Centre. Trudy is coordinating further meetings in the local
area, building on the principles agreed at the March 2010 Surrey Network
at the Lightbox, Woking.
There
is a great deal of drive to ensure Fellows are able to collaborate
and the Centre currently has a number of projects in which Fellows
are encouraged to share their knowledge, skills and contacts:
• Creating a peer to peer learning network for social enterprises
and entrepreneurs creating low carbon businesses
• Develop an apprenticeship/work experience scheme for young
people in the South East
• Fund subsidised green skills training courses for all ages,
backgrounds and abilities
• Supporting the growth of construction waste reuse centres
in the South East region
There will be refreshments available throughout the evening and lots
of opportunities to network with other Fellows.
