About us

The Bricks and Bread Sustainable Living Centre is a hub for experts in sustainable living, building and business. They meet and share their knowledge at the Centre.

These people with specialist knowledge and skills are providing easy access for others to find realistic ways to live, work and build sustainably.

Because it is vitally important that everyone does something about climate change, rising carbon emissions and our dependence on fossil fuels.

These things are only frightening if we do nothing about them - right now we have an exciting opportunity to discover new ways of living our lives and running our businesses.

If we bury our heads in the sand the problem will just get bigger and it won't just be our children who will suffer the consequences of our inaction - it is happening in our lifetime and we can no longer leave it to others to fix on our behalf.

Luckily there are people like our Founder Trudy Thompson who took on a massive financial and personal risk for all of us when she set up this Centre in the middle of the credit crunch with no funding and only a handful of friends supporting her decision.

Her determination and belief that this was the right thing to do came from having spent years trying to live a modern life in a sustainable way and running her eco building company in the South East of England.

It was deeply frustrating for Trudy that it was so hard to find good advice, or skilled people and affordable products -
Whilst environmental and economic problems are becoming major worldwide issues for mankind!

This is why Trudy took a huge gamble and set up the Centre - thanks to her considerable personal efforts the Bricks and Bread Sustainable Living Centre opened in June this year - it has given us a unique venue where we can easily obtain the advice, training and eco friendly products we need in order to become more self sufficient in our lives, to run sustainable businesses and easily build eco homes.
