Working with young people
The most valuable thing we do at Bricks and Bread is working with young people.
Young people are involved at every level of this business from board level decision making and solving operating issues, to creating fun activities and taking part in them.
Young people of all ages give us great ideas which truly benefit this business and inspire others to engage with us. Our activities encourage creative thinking, self discovery and entrepreneurship, young people can see their ideas opinions matter and will be put into action by us.
Junior board - Assisting Trudy Thompson in shaping the future of the enterprise with innovative ideas are young people aged between 12 – 19 years old. Trudy invites 10 of them to attend board meetings and have responsibility for setting short, medium and long term plans for the business.
Inspiring entrepreneurship in young people - Trudy Thompson shares her experiences and encourages young people in fun, creative thinking workshop sessions to come up with business ideas in social enterprise and sustainable innovation
Work experience – we give individual and group (up to 10 young people) two week placements at our Centre or help place them with experts in our hub. We focus on offering group work experience for young people with complex disabilities. We also offer graduates the opportunity to work with us as part of their course work
Creative fun – using our scrap store materials we run fun, free creative activities with young people of all ages and abilities, with their school, their parents or after school clubs
